Turquoise Named 2010 Color of the Year

press_img_20706_1Pantone, the renown color authority, has named Turquoise  the 2010 color of the year.  According to Pantone, Turquoise combines the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green.  It certainly conjures up a feeling of breezy, tropical beaches and cool serenity.

I do like turquoise, especially when it its paired with my favorite chartreuse.  In fact, the family room I designed for the Boston Design Center’s Dream Home 2008 was a lively mix of turquoise and chartreuse grounded with black.  However, even though it is fun to talk about what’s “hot”or “new”, I always tell my clients that it doesn’t really matter what’s the “latest” and “trendiest” when decorating their home.  What’s  most  important is that the colors you choose are ones that you feel passionate about and feel good surrounding yourself with.

If you want to add this latest color trend to your interiors, try adding a beautiful turquoise bowl or vase.  No need to repaint!
